About BillCheck: what it does and how it works
BillCheck reads a US hospital bill on the patient's own phone, compares each line with public Medicare prices, flags likely billing errors and questions to ask, and prepares a dispute or negotiation letter and a phone script.
Who it is for
Patients in the United States who received a hospital or emergency room bill, with or without insurance.
How it works
- Prices come from the CMS Medicare Physician and Other Practitioners data set (national averages, office setting).
- Billing checks follow public rules: duplicate charges, unbundled panels, two emergency visit levels, the No Surprises Act, hospital financial assistance rules (IRS 501(r)).
- The bill is read in the browser with open-source text recognition. Nothing is uploaded.
Price
Checking is free. The ready-to-send letter and the phone script cost $49, paid once, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. There is no subscription.
